Disclosure: Rankfinity is our product, so this comparison is not neutral. Semrush figures come from its public pricing page. Rankfinity figures come from our pricing page and docs. We read Semrush’s published plans and did not run a hands-on test of Semrush for this article. Prices change, so confirm them before you buy.

You do not need the biggest SEO suite. You need the one that matches the work you do every Monday morning. Semrush and Rankfinity are built for different Mondays, and this page shows where the line sits, with the arithmetic visible so you can check it.

The verdict in two cards

Rankfinity

Best for tracking and reporting

  • Rankings, Google Maps geo-grid and AI visibility in one place
  • Entry plan at $29 a month, plus a permanent Free plan
  • Credits that follow what you actually run
  • Higher plans unlock the AI assistant, WordPress agent, MCP and white-label reports
Semrush

Best for breadth and research

  • Content, social, advertising and PR toolkits from one vendor
  • Backlink and keyword research is a core product line
  • Higher caps for big portfolios, plus an Enterprise tier
  • A separate Local toolkit that includes a Map Rank Tracker

Using both is a valid setup: Semrush for research depth, Rankfinity for watching rankings, maps and AI answers for clients and sending the report. The rest of this page explains the reasoning.

How this page was checked

  • Semrush prices and limits: its public SEO and AI Search pricing page, October 8, 2026.
  • Rankfinity prices, limits and credit costs: our pricing page and the credit price list, same day.
  • All arithmetic is shown, so you can redo it.
  • Not checked: hands-on use of Semrush, and anything behind a Semrush login.

Start with the price, then read the fine print

List prices are the easy part. Each plan below is matched to the one in the same position on the other side, which is a rough guide and not a like-for-like feature match.

Rankfinity Solo $29 $23
Rankfinity Business $49 $39
Rankfinity Pro $99 $79
Rankfinity Agency $299 $239
Semrush SEO $139 $117.33
Semrush Starter $199 $165.17
Semrush Pro+ $299 $248.17
Semrush Advanced $549 $455.67

The two companies cap different things. Semrush caps what you can track per plan. Rankfinity caps projects and keywords per plan too, then meters what you run in credits.

Semrush gives every plan fixed caps. SEO covers 5 websites and 500 tracked keywords, Pro+ covers 15 websites and 1,500, and Advanced covers 40 and 5,000. Rankfinity gives each plan a monthly credit balance (Solo 10,000, Business 20,000, Pro 40,000, Agency 150,000) alongside its own project and keyword limits, and charges credits per action. Plan credits end at renewal. Credits you buy as a top-up are kept.

A year of five client sites, in plain arithmetic

Take an agency tracking 5 client websites. The answer depends on how many keywords each one needs, because Semrush counts its tracked-keyword cap across the whole account while Rankfinity counts keywords per project.

100 keywords per site (500 in total)

Rankfinity Solo, yearly$278
Semrush SEO, annual billing$1,408

500 keywords per site (2,500 in total)

Rankfinity Business, yearly$470
Semrush Advanced, annual billing$5,468

SIDENOTESemrush figures are $117.33 x 12 = $1,407.96 and $455.67 x 12 = $5,468.04. At 2,500 keywords the Semrush SEO and Pro+ caps (500 and 1,500) are too small, so Advanced is the first plan that fits. A cheaper bill is not the same as the same product: Semrush includes a far larger toolset.

What a credit actually buys

Credits are only useful if you can picture them. Here is a made-up month for one local client, priced from the official credit price list. It is a worked example, not a measurement of any real account.

CREDIT RECEIPT
Weekly geo-grid scan, 7×7 grid, 3 keywords
  49 points x 3 keywords x 4 weeks588
Weekly instant rank check, 50 keywords
  0.6 x 50 x 4 weeks120
AI Visibility run, once a month
  15 x 10 questions x 5 platforms750
AI Visibility report, 150
PDF report, 150
Site crawl, 200 pages (0.02 each)4
TOTAL FOR ONE CLIENT1,562
Solo includes 10,000 credits a month. Source: Rankfinity credit price list.

At 1,562 credits per client, 10,000 credits covers this routine for about six clients. Run the AI check weekly instead of monthly and the number falls, so size a plan from the price list, not from the headline credit figure. Project and keyword limits apply on top of credits.

SIDENOTEThe AI Visibility line is the one to watch. The price list shows 15 credits per question per platform with a 60-credit minimum, which is why asking five platforms ten questions costs far more than a rank check.

Where Rankfinity pulls ahead

The map, scanned from a grid of exact points

Google Maps results change from one street to the next. Rankfinity scans a grid of points around a business (the docs list 3×3, 5×5, 7×7 and 9×9) and reports average rank position and coverage. Points where the business is not found count as position 21, so a business that wins at the centre but disappears at the edges cannot hide behind one good number. See how geo-grid rank tracking works for the full method.

A 7×7 geo-grid. Green means the business ranks well from that point; red means it does not appear.

Semrush also tracks local map rankings: its separate Local toolkit includes a Map Rank Tracker. Check its current price and limits before you compare, because it is sold apart from the SEO plans above.

One screen for three channels

Organic rankings, Google Maps and AI answers (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, DeepSeek, Grok, Mistral, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode) sit in the same project. That matters most when you report to a client who does not care which channel moved, only whether more people can find the business. The client reports pull the three together, and white-label PDF reports start on the Pro plan.

Link Builder, from prospect to live link

Link Builder (beta) walks the whole outreach loop. You connect your own mailbox, set up a campaign with quality filters, and it finds prospects from sites that cite similar businesses in AI answers, link to your competitors, or mention you without a link. It verifies contacts, drafts a short page-specific email with two follow-ups, and sends nothing until you approve it, unless you switch on autopilot. Replies are sorted and promising ones move across a five-column deal board. More on the link building page.

  1. FindProspects from AI citations, competitor links, search results and unlinked mentions. 2 credits per prospect found.
  2. CheckAuthority, traffic and relevance are assessed so you can see why a site was chosen. The price list charges 1 credit per prospect domain for metrics and 2 per relevance check.
  3. ContactAddresses come from the site’s own pages. Role addresses such as info@ are not used. 10 credits per contact found, 3 per domain where nothing is found.
  4. ApproveA short draft with follow-ups. 2 credits per draft.
  5. TrackReplies are sorted. Deals move through Review, Negotiating, Content, Published or Lost, and published links are rechecked every 7 days.

SIDENOTEFinding 100 prospects (200 credits), 30 contacts (300) and 30 drafts (60) is a floor of 560 credits. Relevance checks, metrics and empty contact searches are charged on top. Link Builder is also in beta, and the docs say it is not enabled on every account, so confirm it appears in yours before you buy for it. Semrush has its own backlink and link building tools, so compare depth on your use case.

Agents that do the routine work

The AI assistant answers questions about your project data. The WordPress agent (Business plan and above) prepares changes to a connected site as previews and applies them only after you approve: 30 credits per message and 10 per applied change. The MCP server with skills (Pro and above) lets you work with your project data from Claude and similar clients.

Google updates, checked against your own traffic

The Google updates tab puts Google’s announced ranking updates on top of your Search Console clicks and impressions (or GA4 sessions) and compares your average daily traffic in the 14 days before and after each one. Keyword history charts carry update markers too. The tab is free and needs a connected Search Console or GA4 property. Semrush Sensor answers a different question: it tracks how volatile Google results are across more than 20 categories on mobile and desktop, not how your own traffic reacted.

Questions people ask

Is Rankfinity cheaper than Semrush?

At list price, yes at the entry level. Rankfinity starts at $29 a month and Semrush SEO at $139 a month on monthly billing. The plans are not identical, because Semrush includes a wider toolset and different limits.

Does Rankfinity track AI search visibility?

Yes. It checks whether a brand is mentioned in answers from ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, DeepSeek, Grok, Mistral, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode. Semrush also includes AI search tracking in its SEO and AI Search plans, with daily prompt limits from 50 on Starter to 200 on Advanced.

Can Rankfinity replace Semrush?

For rank tracking, local Maps tracking, site audits, AI visibility and client reporting, Rankfinity can be the main tool. Keep Semrush for deep backlink analysis, advertising research or content suites.

Is there a free plan?

Yes, on both. Rankfinity Free includes 1 project, 25 keywords and 1,000 credits a month. Semrush Free includes 1 demo project and 10 reports a day.

Do unused credits roll over?

Plan credits end at the renewal date. Credits you buy as a top-up are kept.

Does Rankfinity have a Google algorithm updates tool?

Yes. It overlays Google's announced updates on your Search Console clicks and impressions (or GA4 sessions) and compares average daily traffic in the 14 days before and after each one. It is free and needs a connected Search Console or GA4 property.
