Estimate how machine-written a text reads, see the signals behind the score and the sentences that read most like AI, with tips to make it read more naturally.

01What it does

See how machine-like your text reads, and why.

The AI content checker gives an estimate of how strongly a text matches the writing patterns of AI-generated text. It shows the number, a likely range, a plain verdict and, more usefully, the reasons: which sentences read machine-like and which writing signals push the estimate up or down.

The percentage is not the share of the text written by AI. It describes how closely the writing patterns match typical AI writing. A separate bar shows how much of the text, by words, sits in sentences that read AI-like, show some signs, or read human.

The checker is built for people who publish: website copy, articles, posts and product pages. Use it to find stiff, generic sentences and rewrite them in your own voice. It is an estimate, not proof, and it should never be used alone to judge a person.

  • An estimate with a range

AI-likeness in percent, a likely range around it and a confidence level of high, medium or low.

  • A careful verdict

Likely human-written, Likely AI-written, Unclear, Mixed when parts differ, or Too short to judge.

  • Sentence by sentence

Every sentence highlighted by how machine-like it reads, with the reason on tap.

  • Thirteen writing signals

Each one on a scale between typical human and typical AI values, so nothing is a black box.

  • Ways to fix it

Suggestions for the most machine-like sentences, and rewrites of the top three on request.

02How to use it

Check a text in four steps.

Paste plain text. Longer texts give a narrower range and a more confident result.

  1. Paste the text

At least 80 words, up to 1,500 without an account and 3,000 with a free account. Keep the paragraph breaks, because paragraph rhythm is one of the signals.

  2. Read the estimate and the verdict

Look at the verdict, the confidence and the likely range together. A wide range or low confidence means the text is hard to call.

  3. Go through the highlighted sentences

Red sentences read the most AI-like, yellow ones show some signs. Tap a sentence to see why it was marked.

  4. Rewrite in your own words

Use the suggestions under Make it read more naturally, or ask for rewrites of the top three sentences, then add the specific details only you know.

03How it works

How the AI content checker works.

  1. Stage 1

    Split

The text is split into paragraphs and sentences.

  2. Stage 2

    Measure

Thirteen writing signals are measured and compared with typical human and AI values.

  3. Stage 3

    Second reading

A language model rates the text and each sentence independently.

  4. Stage 4

    Combine and explain

The scores are blended into a number, a range, a verdict, a confidence level and highlighted sentences.

The first check is our own set of writing-pattern rules, applied the same way to every text. It measures thirteen signals that tend to differ between human and AI writing, such as how much sentence length varies, how often stock phrases and transition words appear, how many first-person words and contractions there are, and how even the paragraphs are. Eleven of them are weighted into the score; two are shown for context only.

The second check is a separate reading by a language model, which rates the whole text and each sentence. It is told that formal, technical or non-native writing is not evidence of AI, and to stay near the middle when unsure. The two checks are blended into the final number; the second reader moves the result but never decides alone.

Every sentence gets its own score from its own signals and the text as a whole. When one part of the text reads machine-like and another does not, the verdict is Mixed. Under 80 words the checker does not judge at all.

04Reading the results

How to read the result.

Read the verdict, the range and the signals together. A single number without its reasons says little.

FieldWhat it means
AI-likenessHow strongly the text matches AI writing patterns, from 0 to 100 percent. It is not the percentage of the text written by AI.
Human-like and AI-like barThe same estimate shown as two parts that add up to 100.
Likely rangeThe band the estimate could reasonably fall in. Short texts and signals that disagree make it wider.
VerdictLikely human-written, Likely AI-written, Unclear, Mixed or Too short to judge. Likely AI needs a high score and a range that stays clearly on the AI side.
ConfidenceHigh, medium or low, based on how far the estimate is from the middle, how narrow the range is and whether the two checks agree.
How much of the text reads machine-likeThe share of words in sentences that read AI-like, show some signs, or read human.
Two independent checksThe writing-pattern score from the rules and the rating from the second reader, side by side, with its reasons.
Sentence by sentenceRed reads AI-like, yellow shows some signs, plain reads human. Tap any sentence for the reason.
The signalsEach signal with this text's value, the typical human value and the typical AI value, marked human-like, neutral or AI-like.
Stock phrases, readability and vocabularyOverused phrases found in the text, the Flesch reading score for English, words per sentence and paragraph, and vocabulary variety.

05Who it is for

Who uses the AI content checker.

Business owner

Make drafted copy sound like you

If an assistant helped write your service pages, find the generic sentences and replace them with your own facts and voice.

Editor

Review freelance or AI-assisted drafts

See at a glance which paragraphs need a human pass before publishing, without treating the score as a verdict on the writer.

SEO writer

Cut filler before it goes live

Stock phrases, even rhythm and empty transitions read badly to people. The highlights show where to tighten.

Agency

Keep quality consistent

Check client content against the same signals every time and explain the changes with the reasons on screen.

06Tips

How to make text read more naturally.

  • Add first-hand detail

A number, a place, a customer story or a mistake you have seen. Specifics are the clearest human signal and help readers too.

  • Vary the rhythm

Mix short and long sentences. Even sentence length is one of the strongest machine-like signals.

  • Drop stock phrases

Replace phrases from the stock phrase list with the words you would say to a customer.

  • Cut empty transitions

Sentences that open with words like Moreover or Additionally rarely need them.

  • Write as yourself

Use we, I and contractions where they fit. Plain first-person writing reads more human.

  • Avoid lists of three by habit

X, Y and Z in every sentence is a pattern readers notice.

09FAQ

Questions about the AI content checker.

Is the score proof that a text was written by AI?

No. No detector is fully reliable. The score is an estimate from writing patterns; treat it as a reason to reread, never as proof about a person.

What does the percentage mean?

How strongly the text matches AI writing patterns. It is not the share of the text written by AI; the breakdown bar shows how much of the text reads machine-like.

Why does it say unclear so often?

We would rather say unclear than wrongly flag a person. Formal, technical and non-native writing often looks even and polished, and that is not evidence of AI.

Why do I need 80 words?

Shorter texts do not carry enough signal for any detector to judge.

What is a Mixed verdict?

Some paragraphs read clearly machine-like and others clearly human, so one verdict for the whole text would be misleading.

Which languages work best?

English. Other languages get a rougher estimate, and we say so.

What are the two checks?

Our writing-pattern rules, which measure thirteen signals, and an independent reading by a language model. The second reader moves the result but never decides alone.

Is it a tool for getting past other detectors?

That is not what it is for. The suggestions and rewrites aim at clearer, more natural writing for readers, not at getting past detectors.

Is my text stored?

No. We keep a fingerprint of the text to count checks, not the text itself.

How long can the text be?

Up to 1,500 words without an account and up to 3,000 words with a free account.
