When your tool says three and the client’s phone says eleven, one of you measured somewhere else. Almost always it is the tool, because it asked the search engine about a region rather than a place.

Every keyword carries its current position, the change since the last scan and the best position it has ever held, so a bad week reads as a bad week rather than a crisis.
Featured snippet, People Also Ask, AI Overview and the map pack are recorded per keyword. Knowing a snippet sits above you explains a click-through rate that a position alone cannot.
Volume, difficulty, cost per click and intent sit next to the position, so you choose what to work on without opening a second tool.
Scans are written to permanent history and removed only when you remove them. On the self-hosted plan the database is a file on your own server.
Under the hood
rank_absolute counts everything on the page, ads and SERP features included. rank_group counts organic results only, which is what people mean when they say position.
There is a second detail most tools skip. When a featured snippet is present it occupies position one, so every organic result below it shifts by one. Report the raw number and you will tell a client they are first when they are second.
Google removed the num=100 parameter in September 2025, which multiplied the cost of deep result pages roughly tenfold. Rankfinity tracks the depth you actually need instead of pulling a hundred results by default. A hundred keywords cost about €0.06 per scan.
