Google rank checker. Free, no signup.

See the live Google results page for any keyword, country and device, with your site highlighted and its exact position.

01What it does

Where do you rank, and who is above you?

The Google rank checker searches a keyword the way Google shows it in a country, on desktop or on mobile, and returns the whole results page with your site highlighted. You see your organic position, your real place on the page once ads and other blocks are counted, and the sites sitting right above you.

Most rank checks give you one number. This one shows the page behind the number: ads, the map pack, the AI Overview and its sources, People also ask, videos, the knowledge panel and the organic results, in the order Google showed them. That context explains why position 3 sometimes gets fewer clicks than you expect.

It looks at the top 20 organic results, which covers the first two pages, plus every other block on the page. It is a one-off look at today's results; nothing is saved as a tracked keyword, and you do not need an account to use it.

  • The live results page

Ads, AI Overview, local pack, questions and organic results, as Google showed them for your search.

  • Two positions, not one

Your rank among organic results and your place on the whole page, counting ads, maps and every block.

  • Who beats you

The sites right above you are listed, so you know whose page to compare with yours.

  • Any market and device

Pick the country and desktop or mobile; the search runs from that country without a personal history.

  • Map pack and AI Overview checks

The result tells you if your site appears in the local pack or is cited as a source in the AI Overview.

02How to use it

How to check your Google position.

  1. Type the keyword

Use the phrase a customer would search, for example emergency plumber springfield. Longer, specific phrases tell you more than one-word searches.

  2. Type your domain

Enter the site you want to find, such as northgate-plumbing.example. Your domain and its subdomains count as your site.

  3. Pick the country and device

Choose the market whose Google results matter to you and whether to search as a desktop or a phone user. Mobile and desktop pages often differ.

  4. Read your position and the page

The top cards show your organic position, your place on the page, the device and the number of ads. Below them you get the full results page with your site outlined.

  5. Follow the next steps

Short suggestions under the result tell you what to look at first, for example the sites above you or a local pack you are missing from.

03How it works

How the Google rank checker works.

  1. Stage 1

    Live search

One search from the chosen country and device, top 20 organic results plus all blocks.

  2. Stage 2

    Label every block

Ads, maps, AI Overview, questions, videos and more are recognised and put in page order.

  3. Stage 3

    Find your site

Your domain and subdomains are matched in organic results, the local pack and AI Overview sources.

  4. Stage 4

    Summarise

Your position, place on the page, sites above you and next steps.

When you press the button, the tool runs one fresh search on a live Google results page for your keyword, in the country and on the device you picked. It asks for the first 20 organic results together with every other element Google places on the page.

Each element is then sorted by its place on the page and labelled: organic result, ad, featured snippet, local pack, People also ask, AI Overview, top stories, videos, images, knowledge panel, related searches and similar blocks. Every result whose domain matches yours, including subdomains, is marked as your site. Your organic position counts only organic results; your place on the page counts everything above you.

The same keyword, domain, country and device are kept for a day, so a repeat check returns the same snapshot instantly. Shopping prices are never shown, and nothing from the check is stored as a tracked keyword.

04Reading the results

How to read the result.

FieldWhat it means
Your positionYour rank among organic results only. If you are not in the first 20, it says Not in top 20 instead of guessing.
Place on the pageWhere your first result sits once ads, the map pack, the AI Overview and every other block are counted. A bigger number than your position means more is pushing you down.
DeviceDesktop or mobile, with the country the search ran from.
Ads on the pageHow many paid results Google showed. Many ads push organic results below the fold.
Ranking pageThe page of your site that Google showed. If more than one of your pages appears, the count is shown too.
You are in the map packYour site appears in the local pack. This only shows when Google displays a local pack for the keyword.
Cited in the AI OverviewYour domain is listed as a source of Google's AI Overview for this search.
Right above youUp to three organic results ranking just above you. These are the pages to compare with yours.
On this results pageEvery kind of block Google showed besides organic results and ads, such as People also ask or Videos.
The results pageThe full page in order. Your site is outlined, ads are marked Sponsored, and blocks show their contents.

06Tips

Tips for accurate rank checks.

  • Check both devices

Mobile and desktop results can differ a lot, especially for local searches.

  • Use the market you sell in

Pick the country of your customers, not the one you are sitting in.

  • Include the city in local keywords

A search like roof repair springfield shows the page a customer in another area would see when they add the city.

  • Watch your place on the page

Position 2 below four ads, a map pack and an AI Overview may get fewer clicks than position 4 on a clean page.

  • Compare with the sites above you

Open their pages and compare titles, headings, depth and freshness with yours.

  • Do not judge one day

Positions move daily. Use this to look, and use tracking to see the trend.

09FAQ

Questions about the Google rank checker.

Is this the same as Google in my browser?

Close, but not identical. Your browser personalises results by history and location; this check runs a clean search for the country you pick.

Does it track the keyword over time?

No. It is a one-off check. Rank tracking in the app checks your keywords daily and keeps the history.

Why is my site not found?

It is not in the top 20 for that keyword and country. Try a longer, more specific keyword, and check that a page targets it in its title and main heading.

Can I check mobile results?

Yes. Pick mobile and the check runs as a phone search.

How deep does it look?

The top 20 organic results, plus everything else Google puts on the page.

What counts as my site?

Your domain and its subdomains.

What is the difference between position and place on the page?

Position counts only organic results. Place on the page counts every result and block above you, including ads, maps and the AI Overview.

Does it show the local map pack?

Yes, when Google shows one. The businesses are listed with their ratings, and you are told whether your site is among them.

Does it show the AI Overview?

Yes, when Google shows one: its text and the sites it cites, with your site marked if it is a source.

Is the result saved?

The same check is kept for a day so a repeat returns instantly. Nothing is added to tracking unless you set it up in the app.
